The Director of Cardiopulmonary Services has oversight of the Sleep Lab, Cardiac Rehabilitation Services, Echocardiography, Stress Lab and Respiratory Therapy departments. Oversight includes cardiopulmonary services at both Harris Regional Hospital and Swain Community Hospital.
Directs the department's activities and resources to achieve departmental and organizational objectives. The director assists with delivery of patient care as needed.
Essential Functions:
Develops and implements departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical,administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization.
Directs and evaluates departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management, to achieve performance and quality control objectives.
Plans and monitors staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives.
Prepares, monitors, and evaluates departmental budgets, and ensures that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding.
Coordinates and directs internal/external audits.
Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth.
Integrates evidence-based practices into operations and clinical protocols.
Performance review includes recognition of active participation in briefs, debriefs, huddles, learning boards, and executive patient safety rounds.
Qualifications:
Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree required
Required Skills: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Licensure: Respiratory Therapist licensed by the NC Respiratory Board and Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) with National Board for Respiratory Care
Certifications:
American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire
AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 3 months
AHA Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) - within 3 months
Minimum Work Experience Minimum of two years experience in management or supervisory duties in respiratory care services or general healthcare management.
